Where to begin? Well let me see, shall I share some of my interests and life’s passions to give you an idea as to the kind of man I am and what I enjoy? I am a lover of all things astronomical and although an amateur it has been a major source of inspiration and solace all my life. I'm a keen follower of Archaeology, and have a metal detector which I spent far too much money on and have yet to find treasure to equal its value. I keep up with science news via podcasts and publications I suppose it's the joy of discovery and constantly challenging one's perceptions and understanding which lead me to study critical thinking, I'm still learning. I love to read; historical non fiction, books which help to unravel the complexities of both physics and psychology, Science fiction is my guilty but shameless pleasure, throw in the occasional sojourn into fantasy my abiding admiration for Shakespeare and poetry and you have a fair cross section of my reading habits; with the occasional graphic novel thrown in. I have more hobbies than I care to count although sadly little free time to engage them all; gardening, stone work, drawing & painting, gaming (of the role playing variety) rather than gambling, and yes I can also lose myself in an PS4 game though it's an occasional sojourn rather than a lifestyle. I have a penchant for all things Roman which stems from my heritage as well as an interest in antiques. As for sports, I am a sabreur, I have fenced since I was twelve and have continued the study into its many incarnations over the ages for theatrical purposes, rapier and dagger, sword and buckler, broadsword and shield and even the Japanese arts of the samurai and katana which leads me to another love; martial arts, which I have explored since I was 12 (as a nerd I had to learn to protect myself from the bullies lol) from Tae Quon Do, Shutikan Karate, Jujitsu to finally and most recently Bujitsu although I don't claim mastery of any of these forms, it's a lifetime pursuit. I also enjoy badminton, biking and canoeing . I have enjoyed skiing but somehow seem to wound myself on the slopes every time I go. Recently I have taken up the longbow. As for my other interests, I have always, as far as my memory extends, loved cinema. I'm a collector of memorabilia and props from films and television though not a hoarder. I used to bike 5miles to work and back every day, rain or shine, much to the chagrin of my thighs and backside. But have foregone that here to save my life. I love to cook and am fond of Asian cuisine, fine French wine and the occasional Almeretto although I should say it's not daily consumption but social. I obviously enjoy some typically unconventional pleasures; contemporary dance and art being two of them, I enjoy a good mooch at an auction, car boot sales, visiting medieval, renaissance and cultural festivals as well as the occasional Sci-Fi and Technology Conventions. I do have an Achilles heal when it comes to miniatures and modelling. I admire architecture and appreciate the beauty of nature with equal delight. I'm an amateur photographer and take photos mostly of nature and theatrical stills. Which leads me to my job and joy; I'm a lecturer and Head of Acting, I teach and direct all aspects of theatre specializing in performance and stage fighting. Well that's a peek at few facets of who I am and what I do and enjoy. Hopefully not too under or overwhelming. But does that genuinely tell you who I am? No. But in the hopes of shared interests maybe we might get to know one another from there.
